Slow Art
Using vintage, antique and recycled silk, I create textile/fiber abstract art by hand stitching. This presents me with the challenge of designing artwork based on the relationship of color, size and shape to reflect moods, concepts, memories and other strong human traits. In this way I can work slowly and thoughtfully with as much attention to technique as to artistic vision. I often discover my ideas in the natural world here on earth, as well as the fascinating world of the cosmos.
Some of my pieces are quilted and some are framed. The quilting and framing are also done by hand and not machine as I believe that by working slowly by hand I can experience and further the concept of “slow art”, an important commodity in our increasingly instantaneous world.
